About the Artist
Christine Dougherty is an artist working in Asheville's River Arts District. She grew up in Mississippi
with an artist mother, who taught her to draw from a young age. She earned a BFA from the
Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. After moving to western North Carolina,
she became very involved in the outdoors, taking up whitewater kayaking, hiking, and camping
with a passion. These activities have given her an acute appreciation of the beauty of the area,
which she attempts to capture in her landscapes.
Christine paints primarily in oils and pastels, and loves to paint on location, "en plein air".
